I'm not so sure. I think if he traversed that white line before riding the other white line he may have gone a little faster.

If you lose it and lay down your bike you will fall/slide/bounce until you hit flat ground a couple hundred feet lower than where you started. Close enough to a cliff for me.

I'm not trying to say that there wasn't any danger. If he happened to lose his balance and fall to the right... yeah, he'd probably be in for some hurt because he'd fall a few feet before hitting the slope and then end up bouncing and sliding a ways. The slope isn't so steep though that if he were to lay it down to the left he'd just start sliding down it.
